Our story began in the summer of 2006, when she was only 4 years old. In 2008, we became an official family when Lexi’s dad and I got married. Lexi came to live with us in January of 2009. However, she returned to Austin in August. In 2010, she moved back to Fort Stockton with us. Lexi started 3rd grade here and her permanent transition to being in our home.
Lexi and I battled many obstacles through out the years, from her struggling in school to me facing issues having biological children. We both had a hard time getting through our own battles that we probably made each other’s lives very hard.
However, we got through the obstacles and while doing so pretty much grew up together. I can honestly say that I would be such a different person if Lexi had never come into my life. She showed me grace when I probably didn’t deserve it, she let me call her my child and when I desperately needed it, she called me mom. I am so thankful for the strong bond that we have.
I pray she knows how much I love her and that I am in her corner no matter the circumstance. She is my daughter, I may not have birthed her but see her no other way.
